I think Facebook is a wonderful concept and I still have not taken full advantage of, say, its marketing potential in terms of my real estate business, but I love the opportunities it's given me to reconnect with some friends from Baylor- like Leticia and Elaine, or cousins that I haven't seen since Mema's funeral in 1993.
I have to say, though, that I have some Facebook Friends who don't share my FB "concept" in regard to their posts. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but let's talk. Ok, people - here are some questions I ask myself before I post anything on my page:
- 1) Is this something that my FB friends will find interesting? not my dinner plans, not allergy symptoms, not potty training, not any other bodily function unless it requires prayer or emergency surgery or 911.
- Who will see this post? If its not something I would tell my mom, my husband, my kids, or my co-workers, I'm not gonna post it.
- Did I use correct spelling and punctuation?(their, there, they're, etc... - you know, second grade stuff) I admit this is my personal thing, but know that others notice, too. and who knows, maybe your second grade teacher has a FB page. * This does not include common coloquialisms like gonna, y'all, fixin to, or text abbreviations (except LOL).
- Is this something I could do over the phone? (Hey, Sis, you wanna go camping at the lake this weekend? We havan't been their since last fall?)
- Is this something better taken care of through Hallmark or Holiday Inn? I'm not talking about birthday or anniversary wishes - FB greetings can make a birthday very happy. I'm thinking of "My Bruno is the best husband in the world - hugs and kisses, baby" " I love my hott wife."
Well, there you have it. I will understand if you want to unfriend me for my intolerance. I just hope I don't lose any friends who post funny UTube videos, personal blogs, good recipes, cute baby/grandbaby pics, insightful or controversial topics, vacation pics, personal music or movie reviews, book recommendations, ebay listings, community service announcements, commentaries on local and national events, inspirational messages, or the "accidental" friend I made because she had the same name as the wife of a friend, but who friended me anyway because I was a friend of her friend from high school who was my friend from college ...
Hooray! I'm going to enjoy getting to know you through the written word. Your a really cool mom, and I really like you're son.
